I’ve been toying with the idea of hopping on the food blog bandwagon, and so, with the help of my friend Alisa, Baklust has come to be.

So, what does Baklust mean? Well, basically, in Dutch it means a “passion for baking.” I got the inspiration for this name in part because I used to live in the Netherlands, and hell, everything sounds better foreign, right? But I can’t take full credit for this name. Baklust is also the name of  a cute little vegetarian restaurant in The Hague, the city I lived in, that I loved to go to for breakfast or lunch. The name just seemed to be the perfect fit for my blog. (And just in case there’s any confusion, this blog is not affiliated with the original Baklust).

This project will be a learning process for me. I don’t by any means claim to be a goddess in the kitchen, or even really know all that much about the art of food, but what I do know is that I’ve loved baking for as long as I was old enough to actually use an oven.

I mostly gravitate towards traditional recipes (it must be the 50s housewife in me), and all recipes posted are ones I find on the internet or in any books I have lying around. Perhaps one day I will be skilled enough to whip up tasty creations from my head.

Now, enough about me…. let’s bake!
